Library Folks Respond

It looks like our series "Trash or Treasure" generated conversation at this month's Library Board meeting.
A few members questioned how library books were being collected and discarded. They were promised written copies of the policy at their March meeting.
I spoke with one of the board members who thanked us for highlighting this issue. Victoria Defreese felt it got board members talking about the policy and that - she felt - was a good thing.
"It's always good to revisit policies after they've been around for a while," she said.
The Board - of course - is only advisory, Library Director Larry Frank manages the system.
He wasn't as impressed with our stories, calling our discovery of perfectly good books being discarded as "isolated."
