Lambert Urged to "Lawyer Up"
"Smoking Gun?"
Knoxville attorney Herb Moncier believes a letter to Chairman Scott Moore, dated January 19, and electronically signed by 14 commissioners (including Moore) is the "smoking gun" in the lawsuit that accuses Commissioners of violating the state's sunshine law in appointing 12 term limited positions on January 31.
In the first day of testimony, Moncier painted a picture of two differing opinions regarding the appointments. Playing back the January 16 intergovernmental and finance comittee meetings, he suggests one group can be heard wanting public hearings. The other did not.
Eventually, 6 different options were discussed during those committe meetings. And if you include the County Mayor's letter requesting public hearings, Moncier says 7 different plans could've been implemented. But instead, the quick call for the January 31 meeting and as we now know, no public discussion.
What is eye opening, is how the call for the special meeting came about. According to testimony, the director of the commission office, Jolie Bonavita says she made the calls individually to the commissioners asking them to "sign on" to the meeting.
At whose request? She says at the request of the 14 commissioners on the letter. What? if that's true, she was following the orders of 14 people she had to later call to get their approval for the meeting. That doesn't make sense.
When asked who helped her craft the letter, she said she had a template for such matters and requested and received help from the Law Director.
Who originally asked her to compose the letter and make those commission calls? She couldn't remember. It was later discussed that Chairman Moore had directed her to compose the letter.
The County Law director's office said the letter was legal under state law.
Lambert told to "lawyer up."
Another development today: County Commissioner Greg "Lumpy" Lambert was told, by letter, to find a lawyer. The author of that request was County Law Director John Owings.
Lambert was visibly upset about the letter this afternoon, but had calmed down later saying it wasn't that big a deal.
We asked Mr. Owings, why the recommendation and if others had been given the same advice and he could only answer that he had no comment.

I found this on Knoxviews.
I found this on Knoxviews. Could this be why Lumpert was told to lawyer up?
LUMPY LAMBERT'S TEEN DATING VIDEO
It was little-reported, much to the dismay of many, that Commissioner Greg "Lumpy" Lambert has a You Tube page.
Instead of using this page as a forum to better serve his district, Mr. Lambert...I mean Lumpy...sorry, has decided to primarily use his video camera to chronicle a recent trip to the Bahamas, which he made sure he talked about frequently before he left.
MORE NOTABLY Mr. Lambert has used his site to post a 'mock pilot TV show' that chronicles the adventures of teen dating in Knoxville. MOST NOTABLY the TV show follows a young 14ish couple through a date in Knoxville and their visit to the Riverfront park fountains where they appear to frolic and flirt their way to a happy ending.
It's disturbing to see that a Knox County Commissioner would post even a semi-questionable, self-produced video on a public Web site for all to see. Not that teens shouldn't date, but watching the video does put a question into your mind as to whether Mr. Lambert, in his script writing, is aware of the increasingly high teen pregnancy rate. In 2006, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy found that 1 in every 89 Tennessee girls ages 15-19 became pregnant in 2005.
Maybe it's not the best idea to create a seemingly flirtatious video that details how fun and enjoyable it can be to date at the age of 14-just a though.
Regardless as to how you feel about the video, knowing it was produced by Mr. Lambert, you have to agree that it's just weird.

Find out what Jolie Bonavita
Find out what Jolie Bonavita asked each commissioner when she called. For instance, what if she asked, "are you available on January 31st?" or "would you agree to a special meeting on Jan 31st for appointments?".
Nick, I agree with your
Nick,
I agree with your opinion of Lumpy, but your data from the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy is twisted.
They claim that one in every 89 Tennessee girls between 15-19 became pregnant in 2005. Their data includes adult women 18 and 19 years old. An 18 year old woman is allowed to make her own decisions. It appears the data included adult woman to ensure higher numbers and receive additional taxpayer funding.
Lumpy is the most crooked
Lumpy is the most crooked one on the Knox County Commission and an even bigger hypocrite than Scoobie Moore. The worst kind of hypocrite is one who is more guilty of what they accuse someone else of. He has been one of the main ones going after Mayor Rasdale. Each time the Mayor has been attacked, he does answer and seeks to make corrections. Lumpy and Scoobie and their cronies all deny they have done anything wrong or shady. But, it's all coming out now, and they can't get the heat off themselves by putting it on Mayor Ragsdale. What a fraud Lumpy is as representative of part of Knox County on the Commission. The sooner he is off Knox County the better. Thisi guy is weird as evidenced by his video of a teenage girl's date. He's so shady, as Sean Hannity would say after hearing Michael Jackson's voice, I feel like taking a shower after being this guy.
